Starting this month you will find some fun changes in our newsletter. In addition to changing our delivery to the first of the month, we’ll be adding a new column that we are very excited about: Talk Story with the Love Life! Team.

The Love Life! Team is the community outreach arm of the Down to Earth Marketing Department. Andrea, Cynthia, Mama T and Rachel are our team of talented chefs that travel around the islands teaching cooking demonstrations and workshops, hosting consumer lectures, and educating our customers about the importance of healthy eating. Our new column will feature our outreach work at local farms, at our in-store events and out in the community at local events.

Among the most exciting things that we’ve added to our calendar are learning-intensive workshops. In September and October we hosted two three-part Gluten-Free workshops at both our Honolulu and Kapolei stores. These hands-on workshops were sold out at both locations! The workshops let participants learn about the gluten-free lifestyle, sample delicious alternative grains and even get their hands dirty in the kitchen making their own recipes! We look forward to hosting more of these in the coming year.

We’ve also added mini workshops to our event calendar! In November and December we hosted two workshops focused on holiday cooking. During our Holiday Feast workshop in November students sampled a dozen homemade holiday foods including Raw Cranberry Relish, Gluten-Free Stuffing, Vegan Mushroom Gravy, Apple Crunch Cake and Red Chai Tea. Our December Holiday Baking workshop focused on the sweet side of holiday cooking. We shared and sampled raw, vegan and gluten-free cookie, pie and breakfast recipes so that everyone can enjoy sweet treats during their holiday feasts. Coming in January we are excited to announce our newest workshop focused on raw foods. Our Raw Foods Workshop will be held in Kapolei on January 14, 5:00-7:00 pm.
