Down to Earth Voted Best Health Food Store 2016

Down to Earth has again won the Star-Advertiser’s People’s Choice Award for 2016 Best Health Food Store. Ten years in a row!

The announcement was made in the Star-Advertiser on Sunday, June 19th. The award was selected by readers, who had to fill out a hard-copy form and mail it in.  So the result is a true reflection of our standing in the community.

First VegFest Oahu Coming September 24th

Oahu’s first-ever VegFest will be held at Honolulu Hale, on the corner of King and Punchbowl Streets, Saturday, September 24, 2016 from 1:00 pm to 6:30 pm.  

VegFest Oahu 2016 will be a free family-friendly event celebrating plant-based, sustainable living. People will be able to taste delicious vegan food from local restaurants. Hear inspiring speakers about health and environmental topics. Engage in the Learning Kitchen with plant-based cooking demos by local chefs. Enjoy conscious music and entertainment on the main stage. And shop for green and veg-friendly products at the event’s Wellness Market.

Dr. Bill Harris Loved Life!

This month we mourn the Aug. 26th sudden and unexpected passing of Dr. William “Bill” Harris, 84, a stalwart supporter of the vegetarian movement in Hawaii—having been one of the original founders of the Vegetarian Society of Hawaii (VSH) in 1990, and serving on its board until his passing away.  Dr. Harris became a vegetarian in 1950 and a vegan in 1964.

It’s now easier to order your favorite deli menu items from Down to Earth. We just launched a new online deli ordering system at our location on 2525 S. King St. in Honolulu. During the next two months we’ll roll it out to our other stores in Kailua, Pearlridge, and Kapolei on Oahu; and Kahului on Maui. The new system lets you order sandwiches, smoothies and juices and more from the convenience of your mobile phone, tablet, or PC.A free app is available for both iPhone and Android devices.

Whether you’re a coffee lover or kombucha enthusiast, we’re excited to tell about our Kahului store’s “Espresso & Kombucha Celebration” Tuesday, March 17th through Friday, March 20th. The event promotes our Kahului store’s newly installed Organic Espresso Bar and self-serve Kombucha on Tap. KHON2 Features Monthly Down to Earth Cooking Segment

Down to Earth on KHON2's Living808 "Healthy & Delicious"

A Down to Earth cooking segment will be featured every 3rd Monday on KHON2-TV's new cable channel Living808. The new segment, "Healthy and Delicious with Down to Earth" will be hosted by Community Outreach Team Leader, Trisha "Mama T" Gonsalves. She will be demonstrating how easy and tasty it is to cook and eat healthy. Down to Earth is excited to be a part of Living808, Hawaii's first live daily lifestyle show featuring hosts Trini Kaopuiki and Taizo Braden.
